What we do:
We run After School Tabletop Role-playing games Online for Kiwi Kids aged 8 to 18.
We offer safe, original and age-appropriate stories that facilitate positive learning opportunities through play.
What is Dungeons & Dragons?
“In Dungeons & Dragons, the players form an adventuring party who explore fantasy worlds together as they embark on epic quests that grow their characters. The Game Master (also known as the GM) is the game's referee and storyteller, who creates the world and sets the scene for the group story-telling.
At its heart, D&D is a game that focuses on storytelling. The dice just help you along. Everything is your decision, from what you look like, to how you act, to what happens next.
There’s no winning or losing in D&D—at least, not in the conventional way. The collective creativity in your D&D game builds stories that you’ll tell again and again—ranging from the stuff of legend, all the way to absurd incidents that’ll make you laugh years later.”
Who is Spells & Dragons?
Spells & Dragons is led by Josh, a passionate creative and experienced Game Master with over 10 years of expertise in crafting immersive and engaging Dungeons & Dragons adventures..
Josh’s background in hospitality has honed his ability to make diverse groups feel welcome and comfortable, ensuring a safe and fun environment for everyone. These skills have seamlessly transitioned into his creative work, where he has written and run countless long-form narratives for a wide variety of gaming groups.
With a decade-long passion for fantasy and storytelling, Josh co-founded Spells & Dragons with a longtime creative partner to bring the joy of Dungeons & Dragons to a wider audience, especially to creative youth who stand to benefit most from these enriching games.
As the program evolved, Josh’s partner stepped away, and Josh took on full leadership of Spells & Dragons. As Dungeons & Dragons continues to rise in mainstream popularity (thanks to the D&D movie, shows like Stranger Things, and web series like Critical Role and Dimension 20), the demand for quality storytelling and safe, engaging gaming environments has surged. At Spells & Dragons, we believe tabletop role-playing games are a powerful tool for fostering creativity, prosocial skills, and self-efficacy.
Josh is dedicated to spreading the magic of D&D to new and seasoned players alike.
